I’m Sheila Fontánez — a Puerto Rican mother, graphic artist, dreamer, and the heart behind DPR De Puerto Rico.

Together with my children and our beloved dog Red, we live carrying Puerto Rico deeply rooted in our souls. No matter where life takes us, our island is still home. It lives in our memories, our music, our food, our slang, our traditions, and in those little everyday moments that only another boricua could truly understand.

DPR De Puerto Rico was born from something very personal:
the realization that being Puerto Rican is not just about where you live… it’s about what lives inside your heart.

As time went by, I began to understand more deeply the emotions carried by so many boricuas living far from the island. That feeling of longing that suddenly appears through a song, the smell of coffee, the sound of the coquí, a family recipe, or memories of childhood in Puerto Rico. I realized that no matter the distance, there is an emotional connection to our island that never fades.

And I understood something powerful:
even far away, Puerto Rico never leaves us.

That is why I created DPR De Puerto Rico — a brand made to reconnect boricuas with their roots, memories, childhood, culture, and identity.

Every design is created with love and intention, inspired by the beauty of our island and the emotional connection we carry as Puerto Ricans around the world. Whether you were born in Puerto Rico or grew up hearing stories about the island from your parents or grandparents, this brand is for you.

Soy Sheila Fontánez, madre puertorriqueña, artista gráfica y el corazón detrás de DPR De Puerto Rico.

Junto a mis hijos y nuestro amado perro Red, vivimos llevando a Puerto Rico sembrado en el alma. Porque aunque la vida cambie, hay algo que nunca cambia: el amor profundo por nuestra tierra.

Puerto Rico vive en nuestros recuerdos, en la música que escuchamos, en el olor del café, en las playas, en la comida de abuela, en nuestra manera de hablar y en esos pequeños detalles que solamente otro boricua entiende.

DPR De Puerto Rico nace desde un lugar muy personal:
entender que ser puertorriqueño no depende del lugar donde vivimos, sino de lo que llevamos dentro del corazón.

Con el tiempo, comencé a comprender más profundamente las emociones que viven tantos boricuas lejos de la isla. Ese sentimiento de nostalgia que aparece de repente con una canción, el olor del café, el sonido del coquí, una receta familiar o los recuerdos de la niñez en Puerto Rico. Entendí que no importa la distancia, hay una conexión emocional con nuestra tierra que jamás desaparece.

Y entendí algo muy poderoso:
uno podrá irse de Puerto Rico… pero Puerto Rico nunca se va de nosotros.

Por eso creé DPR De Puerto Rico:
una marca diseñada para reconectar a los boricuas con sus raíces, sus recuerdos, su niñez, su cultura y su identidad.

Cada diseño nace con amor, intención y orgullo boricua, inspirado en la esencia de nuestra isla y en ese vínculo emocional que compartimos los puertorriqueños alrededor del mundo.
